    Prologue

    The 1951 Caddy.

In 1958, my Dad gave me the keys to his favorite hot ride. A 1951 green two door Series 61 Cadillac with a 160hp V8 engine and dual exhaust pipes, that sang the song of power and the road, for me to get around and keep running for him. About three months later I blew that magnificent engine up on Shirley Highway heading north into Washington, at the Glebe Road interchange. That night Dad disgusted came out and he pulled it home behind his 57 Ford Fairlane. After an evaluation of it, and me, he sold the car for its junk value, and it ended up in Bank’s Auto Parts, then on Telegraph Road and Duke Street.

It was a victim of an enthusiastic, if ignorant, driver who never once from the day he received the keys to the day he turned them back ever put one quart of oil into that powerful hot machine. I didn’t even know it needed oil!

My next car was a $100.00 1950 Nash Rambler convertible on its last legs picked up on Dog Row in Bailey's Crossroads. It was a car from which I would learn much about automobile owner ship and operation before it too headed for Banks.

In the 1970's it became popular to denigrate the "old dead white guys" who had created and built  and maintained the United States to become the most powerful Nation in the modern World. More representation and democracy was needed. Minorities had to be up-lifted and Whites needed to step back and share the wealth of the Nation with all of its citizens.

Over the intervening period to 2013, we have seen social changes only dreamt of in the wildest of drug induced fantasies before 1970. Women in the military. Homosexuals with a special status under the law. Foreign minorities demanding respect and greater tolerance of their inability to speak English as a currency of being a citizen of the United States. A welfare system which once was specifically to protect the elderly in their old age against poverty now a swarm with every conceivable illness and disability regardless of age entitled by benefit of their existence to the same benefits as people who have worked all their lives supporting the system

And we recently have been told that it is now safe to say that the "old white guys" no longer control the Nation, and in the Near future will not be players in the decisions about who runs the Nation. Republicans and Conservatives take notice your time is running out! Now consider this.

The Failed Presidency of Barry Obama

What can you say when you look at the Washington Post day in and day out and the same story continues to run, over and over and over. The National intelligence community is proving to be as serious a threat to the Constitution as ever were the S.S in Germany or the KGB in the Soviet Union. The economy is in a shambles. The military is in exhaustion of over extension with an internal crisis caused by sexual predation.  The N. Koreans are running amok. The Chinese are laughing at us as they daily steal our secrets and grow steadily more powerful. The Russians disdain us. The U.N. stands aside in polite silence. Our foreign allies squirm uncomfortably in the background not willing to even give us lip service in any of our messes since the debacle in the middle east begun under the Obama Administration.

In all of it there is the putrid odor of incompetence.

For myself I have long felt that getting fresh blood into the Nation’s leadership, people from the heartland who had no ties or obligations to the establishment already there was important to cleaning up this mess. Strangely I opposed Mr. Obama’s candidacy for the presidency, not for the very quality which I had thought would be good for the Country, but for the lack of any ability other than to give a rousing speech and run a campaign for office. Obama was fresh blood, but he had no ability to do  the job and it was this inability which forced me to oppose my own long hoped for dream.

He had made his way to the front by crabbing his way to the back.

His whole career in its few episodes, student in Hawaii, social worker in Chicago, back bench legislator in the Illinois legislature, and then Senator in the Congress all had one commonality. They were positions which his racial background factored heavily in the mix, and where that background had encouraged well meaning people to direct his path toward the Presidency. Probably it is the consequence of random acts of kindness interspersed with seeming isolated brilliant communications skills which kept him on course when a critical look at his actual accomplishments would have forced the examiner to admit there is nothing behind the suit. But he was in the armor of being what David Ehrenstein  termed, “the Magic Negro.”

None who were better qualified dared to expose him. To quote Ehrenstein at the time, Obama was; “the magical Negro is a non threatening black hero in the popular media, usually the cinema, who was invented to ease feelings of white guilt over slavery and racial injustice. He is noble and devoid of sexual motives, and appears suddenly, out of nowhere, to magically solve the problems of white people.”

American voters and the World didn’t need to know who he was, what he believed or what his qualifications for the office were. They could get that feel good sense just by voting for him!

    Just an Empty Promise.

Sometimes great men work their way into the lime light by their achievements and through them earn their chance at becoming president. People like Washington, Jefferson, the Adams, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Eisenhower, and Reagan come to mind as these types of presidents. Sometimes great men work their way up by being a good soldier and working to support others who are more celebrated, until a seeming accident or succession pulls them onto the stage as the President. They are fewer, but no less great for all of that and include Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson. But in every case of greatness, the man behind the suit was in and of himself and individual who had his own achievements and skills which he had developed over a career of working at a job and making meaningful decisions about whatever he was working at or for. Barack Hussein Obama had no such background from the time he was a boy to the day he entered the Oval Office as President of the United States he was a promise for the future without a history or past.

    A Tell Tale Award

The dust of the parades in Washington hadn’t settled two weeks after Obama’s inauguration before the first vote of the people of the World arrived. Obama had won of all things, the Nobel Peace Prize!

The only response any thinking person could have had at that was, “What the Hell is going on in Stockholm? Are they high on marijuana or what? It wasn’t marijuana, it was the rapture of Obama’s having full filled the promise that every loving American mother had uttered to herself and her son, “One day you could be President!” The dream of the World’s masses, the promise of the American’s Constitution. With it the joy reverberated into the halls of the Nobel Committee and they voted , YES. The future is finally at hand, Peace will soon follow. Sort of the Second Coming award.

When asked after the amazement had settled down, the head of the committee could only lamely say and I take the liberty of paraphrasing several of his statements as he tried to talk his way out of the mess; “We made the award in an Anticipatory Gesture that the President will prove to be the peace maker of our time.” Whatever the reason, the Committee had glanced over the other 204 candidates for the prize which included the Chinese dissident Hu Jia who might have been called a Neighborhood Block Organizer in China. But Hu unlike Barack got himself a long jail sentence and won the  Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought while as had Nelson Mandela he bounced in and out of Chinese jails for his anti-government writings and speeches.

It turns out as Rush Limbaugh demonstrated in 2007 when a friend of his nominated him to counter the nomination of Al Gore, Jr. Anyone in Government, or a head of a University, along with a host of other people is entitled to nominate a person of their choice for the award. In the end, the 2007 award might be considered the John the Baptist forerunner of Mr. Obama’s ascension to that vaunted World important award.

The Nobel Committee claimed in its 2009 award “ The award on October 9, 2009, citing Obama's promotion of nuclear nonproliferation and a "new climate" in international relations fostered by Obama, especially in reaching out to the Muslim world.”

“The work begins anew. The hope rises again. And the dream lives on!" Ted Kennedy’s last speech to a Presidential Convention when he energized the Nation and the World too.

What President Obama did with all this remarkable potential was to sink under the weight of expectation and allow himself to become a tool of equally unqualified Idealists. His Administration got swept up in the policies of the Democratic Liberal-Progressive catechism. It became the inept political class leading the inept leader in control of the most powerful Nation in the modern World.

Ted Kennedy had put Obama in the White House in the belief that he’d found the tool for continuing his own agenda. And with the Presidency under his rule, the control of both houses of Congress, and a huge effort of legislative bullying, he got his dream. The Affordable Healthcare Act, popularly called Obama Care. If anyone should have been the titled author of it, it should have been called the Kennedy Care. But history isn’t always kind to deserving people.

A Nobel Peace Laureate with a Hit List!

After that, came the important stuff. War. And here we have the crux of this discussion. Obama has a love of war, actually of war games. The kind where the looser gets zapped out of existence with great sound effects and flashes of light.

Iraq, Afghanistan, the Libya, pop pop  pop! He took them on, declared them won and moved on. Until the Arab Spring when muslims all over the place finally became totally disenchanted with the promise of an Obama peace.

The Cadillac of Nations brought to its End?

So, here we sit. The economy is in a shambles. Our overseas presence is now the province of NSA, CIA, etc. and their plethora of drones flying over any Nation too weak to challenge them.

The mark of the empty suit amateur adventurer is on the whole thing. A leader who can’t lead. Who relies on agencies he can’t and doesn’t control to replace a military, to which he is naturally hostile, whose strength and global power he can’t fathom. He makes statements and policy positions just as he has always done in the belief that not enough people are paying attention or will notice to interfere with his limited abilities.

The Nation and as a result, the World is in need of a leader. Sadly, Obama isn’t it. Worse, there aren’t any on the horizon. The "old white guys" who set it all up have been replaced by a clamoring mob which can’t decide what is truly important as it rushes from fad cause to fad cause. None who currently operates the Nation's structure, nor who is on the Horizon has a clue of how to do the job!

So the news in the Post will continue to go from bad to worse until someone finally steps forward to get control and turn us back to being a true super power.

Unless it is too late and our great nation's engine is out of the oil of competence to operate it. People generally end up with the automobile and government that they deserve.

    Rooting for Al-Quada!

The enemy of my enemy is, my enemy?
No, that’s not how it goes.
The enemy of my enemy is, my friend.

Yesterday I suddenly found myself cheering for a group whom my Government assures me is my enemy. The Al-Quada who the United States Government has declared perpetual war against.

Lest we forget, since 2001; when the World Trade Center buildings were brought down in huge piles of rubble and almost 3,000 Americans remains; our Government has conducted overt and covert military and civilian operations against what I can only visualize as a bunch of unshaven loose knit association of anti-American Arabs.

What I don't know!

What do I or any other average American know about the Al-Quada? Damned little. And that’s the way our Government likes it. But research shows me that it was started back in 1988-89, by our then ally Osama Bin Laden. That they are a militant Islamist group. Like I said, Damned little.

How is it structured? What is its purpose? What does the name mean? Who is it? Who is their leader? Where is their capital? How can I go and visit it?

The name apparently means, “the Base.” It was founded as an anti-Soviet operation during the Soviet Afghanistan War, as opposed to the American Afghanistan War. It is made up of small groups whose numbers are nebulous, when compared with the military of the United States, and can be just one or two people or more.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Al-Quada's Main Purpose?

That last part is the neat thing from our Government’s point of view. Along with there being no central leader, no central command structure, no single or even multiple places which are its home, it is the best of all enemies. It can never be defeated!

As long as one peasant in one mud hut in one back hills village feels resentment to the developed World and is willing to go out and attack the World, or the United States, under the banner of this organization which has no structure and perhaps die in the process, then the war against it and what we are told is Our War against Terror can never be won!

Al-Quada is truly a stroke of Bureaucratic Genius. The Government never has to ever release the reigns of control, ever again.

What? You don’t believe me? Look at our airports, our public buildings, our public discourse, our behavior in public places. In the past twelve years, not one element of anyone’s life in the United States hasn’t been twisted and swept up in the public fervor to insure our peace and safety every where we go.

Today I was watching an NBC news story which was applauding the fact that 15 million Americans have paid in the neighborhood of $100.00 and submitted to invasive Government investigations of their lives just for the privilege of moving through the air port security lines without having to take their shoes off or submit to more personal searches when they fly. That is $1.5 billion dollars of tax income from travelers which the Government could never have gotten without a War on Terror.

Our Enemy is most powerful when he doesn't exist!

When you start watching the news with a critical eye, you realize that those boys in those mud huts in those remote villages with just an old rusty AK-47 and a handfull of cartridges, have scored the most effective military and civilian assault against the World’s preeminent power and won!

What one American is as potent as that unhappy peasant?

Even the Vietnamese peasants couldn't impact America during their 19 years, 6 month struggle as effectively as the nebulous Al-Quada has.

Take the question of the removal of the shoes before getting aboard a plane. Ostensibly to prevent shoe bombers from striking American interests. Right? With all respect for my betters, would someone please explain why it is that only in Israel, and the United States that people have to take off their shoes? While I haven’t flown there, I could find nothing mentioned in Google searches about such a measure. I could be wrong, but until told otherwise, remain skeptical.
Shampoo bottles, deodorants, soap, razors, pocket knives, nail clippers, any pointy object is forbidden to fly. What Viet Cong could have dreamt of such power?

My point, is this, if no one else is checking shoes, why aren’t planes falling out of the sky all over the World where Americans fly in large numbers on foreign airplanes? It must be just American planes that are vulnerable.

My Point!!!

    Well I’ve wandered enough.

Yesterday reading the Washington Post I found myself cheering the Al-Quada. They are working on defeating Drone attacks by going after the software. Again thanks to that "Traitor" Edward Snowden it can now be told that the enemy is trying to bring down our drones!

Since those boys sitting on their prayer rugs in their mud huts, drinking goat and camel milk and ignoring their own women in favor of seventy some odd number of dreamed of virgins, ( Just imagine the problem they'd cause a fellow? Check out what's happening in our all new and improved Military. And they want me to believe any sane person would want in preference to real live ones?) have defeated us on every other front, I look forward to their doing it soon with the Predator and other drones starting to fall out of the sky.

    Why am I happy?

Because the Federal Government is already deploying these machines right here in the U.S. Under the guise of Wild Fire surveillance to start. Meanwhile Local State and City Governments are climbing onto the Drone Force bandwagon.

Since Civil Rights and the Constitution can’t stop them, I hope that hacking up their software will.

If these hacks are successful, they will be published, and the Government’s insistence on invading yet another aspect of our lives will be if not foiled at least vulnerable until we can get some common sense in this Country. Something we seem to have left in the dim dark days of 9-11-01.

Without some interference, George Orwell’s novel, “1984" will become completely true. "Perpetual war, omnipresent government surveillance, and public mind control."

Much of it is already in place thanks to the invention of Al-Quada.

    Bee Keepers Adapt or Die!

Progress' Purpose?

Progress does not honor the old way of doing things.
It abhors the restrictions of old previously perfected systems and machinery.
Progress seeks out new and untried.
It is a friend to that which is known as  impossible even insanely irrational and builds with them.

Jet planes replaced perfectly good propellor driven aircraft.
This was a violent step forward, which meant doing away with all the time honored wisdom of flight science up to that time.
From jet science’s trashing of what had been came today’s system of fast safe transportation.

This kind of approach required new eyes and attitudes before it could succeed.
Today as beekeepers we are in such a time with the keeping and culture of the honey bee.

The old ways no longer work.
Where once 15% losses of overwintered bees were considered high, now it is looked back upon as a desirable level in the face of fatality rates in the 30 to 40% realm.

And yet, we as a community attack and fight at every turn any change, except permutations of the same system and sciences which have brought us to our current plight.

More of the Same.
This is our solution as individuals. As a community. As a agricultural community.

The propeller driven airplane was relatively safe for its time. It was fairly fast too.
But the levels of fatalities while flying in those planes which could never climb above the weather were high and increasing, and would have continued to had we tried to expand their service to what are today’s levels. And those planes would have necessarily have been far slower than today’s jet aircraft.

Time for a Change?

Orville Wright first flew the Kitty Hawk flier in 1908. The first Langstroth hives designed in 1850 came into wide acceptance among farmers in the early 1900's.

The farm community is known to be loyal to things that have proven to work. It took close to fifty years for the motor driven tractor to replace the horses and ox in front of the plow. This loyalty remains today, and underlies most of our current practices and use of the Langstroth hive and related methods.

Bee Hives began to fail in the 1980s because of farmers.

Naturally enough when modern concerned modern city folk environmentalists heard that honey bees were in a state of decline, they made a critical mistake. They went to the farmers who were keeping bees, and asked them to teach them the old methods of beekeeping. This on the theory that with tender loving care at an individual level, the trend could be reversed.

Blissful Ignorance.

Then these newly farm trained acolytes went forth, tried their hand, organized classes and clubs to bring along those who dumbly followed. Creating the urban farm system of beekeeping.

What soon happened was that thousands of modern pampered hives simply failed as were their country cousins. Meanwhile to counter this trend, the beekeeping community enlisted “science” to try to turn back whatever the malady which was afflicting bee hives and restore previous halcyon days of hundred pound per hive harvests once or twice a year.

Sadly, those few individuals who proposed new ideas about the approved treatment patterns, or about the designs of the approved hive system were shouted down, or driven from the conversation. And the consensus that the old system is okay, it just needs to be tweeked until we get it right continues to rule.

Just as aviation had to put aside, biplanes, straight wings, propellers and gas dirigibles to move into the jet age, beekeepers will have to shed their allegiance to the Langstroth hive system, and the pseudo-science of chemical and medical baths, sprays, traps, and powders which are currently dumped into bee hives by the millions of pounds and gallons at huge waste of money and what is worse the acceleration of the degradation of the Environment.

Adapt or Die!
The Red Queen doesn’t take prisoners.

From Husztek-Markoff @ Juno.com

Instrument vs Visual Flight at Night.

An email conversation with my cousin Tircho who was a Navy Jet Fighter Jockey back when we were both younger.

Bill,

What a great story about your Dad.. Those C 47's were the most reliable
plane ever built and are still flying around to this day. When we sailed to st Thomas
and had to fly back, there was an old C 47 on the tarmac, and it needed some love. I
don't know too much about the B45's, I think their usefulness was limited and a stepping
stone the the B 52, which is still flying. The C 130, I think has surpassed the C 47 as
far as being utilized and re-modernized and whatever.

Yep trust your instruments.... I cant tell you how many times I got vertigo and the
worst case was always night refueling in the clouds on a dark night. I am breaking out
in goosebumps right now just reflecting on those "good ole days!!" .

Loved the pics of your new home. Now when Miki disappears, I will know where to find
you.... get those boats repaired shipmate. On a different subj, If you are in a
building mode, place a wood order after Oct. if we can bring it down...

That article about black on white violence, I hope that it happens to every white who
voted for that socialist un-American person, who probably is reading this email as I
type it..

My best to you Bill. btw, Alex is just about ready to leave stateside and go on
to the Bahama;s. I thought that he was further along, but he has been spending time in
each city and is not on any deadline. my best to Miki.. make sure you hit the HF
this year a few times...

Tircho,

Yeah. That was the first lesson my Dad drilled into me before I even knew to shake
the drops off.

He is now a 97 year old WWII veteran Air Force Navigator. Served in C-47's in
N.Africa, then England he flew the Bridge to Far mission as lead navigator and then on
D-Day he dropped troops behind the lines in the AM before the assault wave. After that,
he was stationed in England from 1954 to 1957, we got to live there with him. He flew in
the B-45's over Europe, in the pre-U2 program, before he finally ended up at the Pentagon
on LeMay's staff before retiring as a bird Colonel.

"Trust your instruments! Your eyes and the feeling in your butt will get your killed!"

Later by the time I finally got my own Private License, I had learned the value of
those words both on and under the water as a sailor and as a NAUI and PADI diving
instructor.

My first night flight over Honolulu was as close to nerve wracking as it could be,
until I remembered his words. "Trust your Instruments." Then it got to be fun again.

As I used to tell my diving students when I would take them out for a night dive in
Hawaii. "Those of you who have vivid imaginations will not like diving at night.
Especially when something bumps into your leg, and you aren't sure if its your partner, a
sea turtle or a bull shark!

Regardless, don't panic, `trust your instruments' and move to the surface slowly."

 Tircho,
I was just thinking, remember that old pilot's joke?
"A second ago, everything was all right!"

So, looking at the two carrier landing videos side by side, the daytime approach and
landing is far more white knuckle for me, too much information.

Again, though, I'm not sure I ever had the cajones to willingly put my butt into one
of your jets and do what are controlled crashes. Forget the instruments! That takes way
more faith in the equipment than I ever had.

Thanks,

Bill

The Magic Negro!

In response to an email from a relative about Black driven crime in Homestead, Pennsylvania.

Trading one master for another.

When I was in High School, 1957, at Hammond H.S. in Virginia our school was integrated during its first year. It took its name from a corpsman who had if my memory is correct died of wounds while treating his people in a combat situation.

One of the old southern teachers made a joke to me and several other boys out in the smoking area when the question of the two new students came up.

"I believe in integration.
Every household needs a slave."

At the time, being a military brat, having just returned from an integrated high school in London, having lived an integrated life all of my life, I thought the joke was lame, and really bad.

But, I was curious to see the dynamics of how this would effect my fellow whites, and the negro kids as well. It wasn't really earth shattering, no George Wallace at the school doors, not even a nasty crew of hecklers, it was just two new kids on the campus.

Sadly, American blacks in my opinion have as a community never embraced the real promise of their gains in civil rights and equality. I say sadly because real African black citizens who immigrate here, as my grandparents did from Hungary, understand the wondrous value of the gift the United States provides for all of its citizens. The right to go out and find a job, moving if necessary take Christie Lee and Wayne Marks’ example, and working their way into prosperity. Thus, immigrant blacks excel and prosper economically and socially while most indigenous blacks take another path.

Instead or individual enterprise and hard work, the majority of the American black community has embraced the second class citizenship which the Government offers. Welfare checks whether they come from State or Feds, Disability checks, Housing allowances, and a host of other doles which the Government tries to camouflage by calling the recipients, "Clients." and a bunch of other feel good politically correctness words. But in the end, they have bought into the crippling world of Government slavery.

They have to live where they are placed. They have to report to "the man" their equally crippled social worker and continually show him their economic chains so they can continue to receive their pitiful allotment. The Government has become their overseer.

And so my old coach's lame joke,
"Every household needs a slave." has become reality.
Every Government needs its slaves.

Thanks,

Bill

Intelligence an Uncommon Virtue along the Potomac River.

Any thinking person, in this accretion of humanity which makes up the Washington community, with a lick of common sense knows or should know not to take themselves too seriously. This includes myself, and I have always made it a point not to believe anything I say without checking it with my wife of the moment.

For the past thirty plus years that has been Miki. And she has a supreme talent for keeping me centered on reality while not letting much of what I say or write go unquestioned or accepted as serious. She is humbling to say the least, and most.

Today, I again venture into the weird world of Washington Think directed by the front page of the Washington Post, which I take most mornings with a cup of green tea. The tea at least is indubitable. There I find the biggest and most complete breakdown of the National Intelligence budget I have ever seen published. All of it thanks to that "traitorous" Edward Snowden.

How could he do it?

One thing which my non-Government friends and family can't avoid saying when we discuss the Snowden case is "how could a guy with a high school diploma" have so much access to so much sensitive data?

It is as if, they think that there is another parallel reality in which the Government dwells. A place where a special  caliber of humans live in a rarefied society unique and whole to itself. Review the sixth word in this essay.

The Government is made up of people like you, your neighbor, the idiot who is tail-gating you, the people of your world. All governments in every country in the World are composed of these people, people like you. But they are unique also in a way most people would never even consider.

When most folks go to work for the Government, they start to assimilate the mantra of "Government Majesty." Being part of the machinery which "governs" causes them to believe that what they are doing bestows upon them a certain importance which the average citizen of Society can't possibly possess.

Partly because we as society tend to let them work unattended. Partly because the job we have put them in holds so much power over all of us.

"I hire you at a small wage to get you out of my way so I can make serious money!"

In 1959, I was a new probationary hire at the Pentagon in the aerial photo collection, processing and interpretation for an Air Force organization called PRIS&D, Photo Interpretive Reconnaissance Services Division. Our job was to handle and pass on all the intelligence pictures and film which the Air Force produced around the World. Strangely, I was given the job because my Dad who was on General LeMay's staff had a problem at home. Me!

So, he did what dads did in those days. He got his kid a job at the factory. The kid in this case was a nineteen year old high school drop out who hadn't even gotten past the sophomore year at school. I was pretty much a looser already on the road to poverty and failure, looking for a place out of the wind.

Instantly. I was hired after a government check of my background. Given a top secret clearance, because the job required I handle such materials, I was a GS-2! I bought a new car, with my new found status and credit. And I started receiving my green computer card pay checks. The people at work called me Mr. Husztek.

At work I handled the Gary Powers U-2 papers. I handled the first letter sent by President Eisenhower into space on an Air Force rocket. I also handled films and photos taken by agents in Russia, and Eastern Bloc countries. These were the worst of photos taken under the worst of James Bond's missions, with the worst cameras ever made. It was all very interesting, and should have been the stuff which would turn me into a good Government worker.

A 19 year old friend of mine from Arlington, was hired at the same time I was under the same conditions. He stayed on and settled into the job after I had left the scene. I wasn't cut out to go to one place and work every day any more than I was for school. While in my first months of that year I won some productivity awards and letters of commendation. It sort of became apparent to management I wouldn't work out, when I organized, Pie Eating Contests in the lunch room and Model Car Races in the vast corridors outside of our lab. Being Mr. Husztek just wasn't taking.

He and I met by chance some twenty years later at a gun shop in Alexandria. He was working there weekends as their armorer and gunsmith. That was when I learned he had stayed on the job and ultimately became the head of the department. He was on the verge of a well earned retirement. I was still struggling to pay my bills with no idea of how I could ever retire.

Oh yeah did I mention that he was a member of George Lincoln Rockwell's American Nazi Party?

There is the picture for your consideration. Two dropouts in their late teens. One a member of a cult-like group who has his family's basement in Dominion Hills of Arlington decorated like a shrine to a neo Nazi War Machine complete with a portrait of Adolf Hitler. The other totally bored with the whole business of establishment life. These two nutty kids were handling the Nation's most sensitive intelligence secrets.

What's that got to do with you? Another friend's father said it all. He was a master electrician, a member of the Union, he too planned for his son to go into the trade. I really envied that. To be able to get into a job where you could have a Union to guarantee job and pay. Wow! So that old man and I are having an argument, and I mention to him I have a respectable job at the Pentagon.

His response,

"A lousy GS-2 job my boy will do a hell of a lot better!  I hire you at a small wage to get you out of our way so we can make serious money!"

Yep folks.

Government workers are the ones who can't find gainful employment at home in the real world.
We hire them out of every community in the Nation, many we move to Washington, where they settle like debris out of the river itself. They go from no one in particular to some one of Majestic Importance by donning the Government mantle. Some we elect out of our community and send there. Once in Washington, they become obsessed with their endowed importance, and as the singer of Hotel California says "they can never ever  leave."

Edward Snowden was the norm, not an anomaly. And that is what, today as I write, has our Nation's Security Community and those of all the Nations around the World in a paroxysm of total fear. The finger on the trigger was never more than mine, my friend's or Bradley Manning or Edward Snowden's.

It can never be any thing else..
After all, the guy in charge never actually had a job and is just a beginner too.

Drowning in Potomac River Ice August 28, 2063.

Martin Luther King Jr. March on Washington, 100 year anniversary.

"Thousands of celebrants drowned along the sides of the Reflecting Pool when in a freak weather event, unpredicted waves of ice cubes and chunks suddenly burst over the sea wall and flooded the Martin Luther King Jr. 100th year celebrations. Park Service Officials have no explanation for it, but feel strongly it has something to do with a small militant group of anti-Climate Change demonstrators who may have left their refrigerator ice makers on high and the doors open. - UPI."

I fall into the category of what is in 2013 labeled as Climate change deniers.
People who still reserve the right to use their own brain, and not accept a consensus of popular fiction as Scientific fact or wisdom.

Thus, I am not a subscriber to the
Global Warming - Climate Change - hypothetical Consensus of Scientific Opinion.

Which can only mean I am a
Flat Earth revisionist?

Some days you stumble on something which strains all possibilities of logic to a point hardly identifiable as having come from a reasoning person or group of people.

Yesterday was such a day when I read the Washington Post Editorial
"Humans’ complicity in climate change can’t be ignored."

Before I get out of your way  and let you read it yourself, I need to tell you I was a U.S. Air Force weatherman from 1964 to 1969. I served on the President's weather team which as you might suppose was directly responsible to Air Force 1 for its weather information. During that time and later I learned a lot about weather, and what we could predict, and what we couldn't.

For instance, on Monday of this week, the local weather forecast for Washington yesterday was sunny with temperatures in the 90's, for the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. As it turned out, the actual weather had a hard time breaking out of the 70's, due to the rain. As a weather man and a science teacher, I am constantly surprised at how short people's collective memory is. Not one person complained to any weather forecaster about the inaccurate forecast as they slogged about on the wet and soggy Mall.

I mention my experience and our inability to accurately predict the weather two days in advance of it because I am now going to quote a line or two from the editorial. Man, "has almost certainly been the chief driver of the warming of the planet over the past half-century, a finding to which they ascribe 95 percent confidence. That’s the level of likelihood researchers typically consider robust enough to justify drawing very strong conclusions."

Suppose for a moment you were buying an airplane ticket to the west coast from New York, and the ticket clerk said to you, "the engineers who designed the plane you will be flying in are 95% certain you will make it off the ground. That's a level of likelihood pilots consider robust enough to justify taking off."

As a scientist I was amused by the absurdity of this tidbit of scientific fact. Carbon monoxide, " has shot up by 40 percent since 1750, with concentrations of the gas now increasing at a faster rate than at any time in the last 22,000 years."

I couldn't help myself and I said out loud, "human deaths from natural causes have shot up by 500% since 1750, with their numbers now increasing at a faster rate than at any time in the last 22,000 years."

The editor-writer didn't fail to keep me entertained with this next bit of "science."
"The IPCC admits that it doesn’t have a sure answer to a vexing question: Why has warming slowed a bit in the past decade or so?"

As things happen in Washington now a days, it was this un-predicted 15 year drop in World wide temperatures which changed the Post's name for its favorite World disease, from Global Warming to Global Climate Change. Modern Science seems to demand that whenever your observations fail to support the hypothesis, change its name! It is the Consensus which is important.

Anyone recall that in Columbus' day the Scientific Consensus was that the Earth was indeed flat!?

Finally the Post implores the U.S. and World Governments to get to action on this "uncertain incredibly complex climate system." I guess because they are afraid that the Potomac will again start freezing up the way it did back in the 1950's and 60's. Then what will we be doing?

And they tell me I am an ignorant flat earth believer?

Read it for yourself, I have attached it below in its full text.
The Post’s View
Humans’ complicity in climate change can’t be ignored
By the Editorial Board, Published: August 26

NEXT MONTH, the international arbiter of the scientific consensus on global warming will release its latest evaluation of the state of the research. A few will dismiss the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) findings as overwrought alarmism. But a draft leaked to reporters last week indicates that, for most people, the report will serve as another stern warning about the risks of continuing to pump carbon dioxide into the air.

The scientists are set to claim that the increasing amount of greenhouse gases that humans have emitted into the atmosphere has almost certainly been the chief driver of the warming of the planet over the past half-century, a finding to which they ascribe 95 percent confidence. That’s the level of likelihood researchers typically consider robust enough to justify drawing very strong conclusions.

The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the IPCC notes, has shot up by 40 percent since 1750, with concentrations of the gas now increasing at a faster rate than at any time in the last 22,000 years. The past three decades were probably the hottest in 800 years. Within this century, the draft report reckons, the average world temperature will increase between 2 and 7 degrees Fahrenheit.

The draft is appropriately careful when discussing global warming’s effects. The sea is rising faster in recent years than before. Climate change probably has caused more extreme weather events, such as heat waves. But, as Reuters points out, the report doesn’t insist on a connection between warming and intense tropical cyclones, for example.

The IPCC admits that it doesn’t have a sure answer to a vexing question: Why has warming slowed a bit in the past decade or so? With medium confidence, the draft suggests that the explanation lies in a mix of natural variations and things such as the oceans absorbing more heat or more volcano debris reflecting sunlight back into space. It’s also possible, the scientists admit, that the planet’s sensitivity to greenhouse emissions is lower than middle-of-the-road projections.

Unless the IPCC’s report changes drastically between now and next month, the bottom-line message will be clear. Some uncertainties are inevitable when humans try to comprehend an incredibly complex climate system. Scientists might not be able to answer some questions for years, until they can look back at what changed after so much carbon dioxide entered the atmosphere so quickly.

Those inevitable uncertainties are all the more reason for governments, starting with the United States’, to head off the ample risks of continuing to release huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the air and to set about it with speed and ambition.
